noosphere

After reading and discussing Information as a resource I started thinking about the idea of a noosphere. The idea that there is this whole body of knowledge that exist just because we exist. The author uses Romeo and Juliet as an example stating that even if every copy of it were to be destroyed we would still know the story because it is a part of everyday knowledge. The author of the article says that we would even know it word for word because of the Shakespearean scholars who have memorized it.
I once heard a theory maybe on a movie maybe from someone or in a class??? but the theory is that if there were monkeys on one island and monkeys on another. and one of the islands monkeys learned how to use tools then eventually the other islands monkeys would use tools also. While reading and discussing the article I thought about this theory and wondered if that is not a good example of the noosphere? I believe it is because it suggest that there is some sort of universal thought process. I decided to look into this thory for the sake of it here is what i found: 100 monkey's ! It's pretty interesting. Check it out.
